The gospel is now resolutely opposed on every hand. Never was the confederacy of evil greater than at the present time. The spirits of darkness are combining with human agencies to set them firmly against the commandments of God. Traditions and falsehoods are exalted above the Scriptures: reason and science above revelation; human talent above the teachings of the Spirit; forms and ceremonies above the vital power of godliness. We need the divine touch.  {RH, March 19, 1895 par. 7}

D27 Discover Signs & Wonders in Fear of the Lord

1. D27 Invitation

Our eternal destiny is being shaped based on the decision we make every moment in our lives.The Bible* tells us there can only betwo groups of people based on the decisions they have made in their life’s journey in the earth’*. It is our worldview revealed in our lifestyle by which we will be identified. “The character as formed in this world determines one’s destiny for eternity.”-E.G White. Simply put, whether we believe in evolution, the populist worldview that our live evolved from nothing millions of years ago or the belief in God’s word that God created the world in six literal days and rested on the seventh day in the creation week to mark the weekly cycle the world is keeping. (Just how God accomplished the work of creation He has never revealed to men; human science cannot search out the secrets of the Most High. His creative power is as incomprehensible as His existence.  {FLB 27.7}) The obedient party stands on the blood-stained banner of Jesus Christ and the disobedient party stands under Satan’s black banner of rebellion.

(Note*:  Cain and Abel (the first two children of Adam and Eve in their fallen nature for unbelief in God’s word) represent two classes of those who profess the religion of Christ. Abel kept the commandment of the Lord, and was hated by his brother Cain, and from the time of Abel's persecution and death at the hands of his brother, there have been two classes upon the earth who have manifested the same characteristics as were displayed by these two brothers. How many claim to be the children of God, and yet refuse obedience to the plain commandment of God!  Satan is the parent of unbelief, murmuring, and rebellion. The original apostasy began in disbelief and denial of the truth; but if we would triumph, we must fix the eye of faith steadfastly upon Jesus, the Captain of our salvation. We are to follow the example of Christ, and in all that Jesus did on earth, He had an eye single to the glory of God. A character formed after the divine likeness is the only treasure that people can take from this world to the next.)

D27 takes us to discover the signs and wonders given by God  for His people and also false signs and wonders, counterfeit signs and wonders to be manifest also especially in the end of time to mislead God’s people and the rest of the world.  By discernment based on the studying of God’s word we are able to differentiate them apart and then to know the greatest biblical sign or wonders that was ever given to mankind in His plan of salvation for us. For our eternal destiny, Isaiah focuses on this greatest miracle, our Saviour, Jesus Christ that is vital for us to know and obey His teaching as God’s gift for the salvation of our souls. To have a purpose and hope in our life, we need to know how that was given to us and learn of lessons in the first advent of Jesus as Immanuel, God with us. We need also to have Christ manifested in our lives today. We don’t generally understand them to be in relation to us. Sometime we look at outward manifestation. But here we are told that God’s people are for signs and wonders.

The Bible verse, “The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.”-Pro 9:10explains the prerequisite* of your acceptance and believe in the truth of God’s word revealing to us that the greatest biblical sign or wonder that was ever given to mankind. Nowadays, many secular people do not have the fear of the Lord. That is why not all will believe and still question the reality of God, the 4th commandment, the first advent of Jesus Christ, the cross, resurrection, the second coming and hope in Christ for His deliverance; i.e. Religion of Christ. “A knowledge of God is the foundation of all true education and of all true service. It is the only real safeguard against temptation. It is this alone that can make us like God in character.”  {MH 409.2} “Through a knowledge of Him are given unto us "all things that pertain unto life and godliness." 2 Peter 1:3 {MH 409.5} "This is life eternal," said Jesus, "that they might know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom Thou hast sent." John 17:3

(Note on prerequisite*- It is the working of God that impresses the individual to come to Christ as explained by this passage from Ellen White, “Is it by conditions that we receive salvation?--Never by conditions that we come to Christ. And if we come to Christ, then what is the condition? The condition is that by living faith we lay hold wholly and entirely upon the merits of the blood of a crucified and risen Saviour. When we do that, then we work the works of righteousness. But when God is calling the sinner in our world, and inviting him, there is no condition there; he draws by the invitation of Christ, and it is not, now you have got to respond in order to come to God. The sinner comes, and as he comes and views Christ elevated upon that cross of Calvary, which God impresses upon his mind, there is a love beyond anything that is imagined that he has taken hold of. . . .  {6MR 32.2}  (This is a reflection of Wesley’s insight on the prevenient grace that is discussed later in par 2.4.4.1. Partnership in Worship.)

There are many facets and many layers of truth to the Fear of the Lord. D27 will start with Isaiah’s Prophecy, points us to getting answers with the Google search on “What is the fear of the Lord?” and then to go into the deep truth by watching the sermon presented by Pr David Shin sharing the significance in God’s last loving message of warning (before judgment day) to the world that have gone after the beast with the first of the three angels’ messages in the phrase “ Fear God and give glory to him: ..” (Rev 14:7)

2. Isaiah’s Prophesy to Apostate King Ahaz ( Isa 7-9, 11)

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KkjAxTENUGQ 5. Worship Service - 01/30/2021 - Pastor Stephen Bohr and Pastor James Rafferty)

"Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God," are the words of our Saviour. The great truths of prophecy, showing our position in the history of the world, have been shorn of their beauty and power by the clergy, who seek to make these all-important truths dark and incomprehensible. In many cases the children are drifting away from the old landmarks. The Lord commanded His people Israel: "When thy son asketh thee in time to come, saying, What mean the testimonies, and the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord our God hath commanded you? then thou shalt say unto thy son, We were Pharaoh's bondmen in Egypt; and the Lord brought us out of Egypt with a mighty hand: and the Lord showed signs and wonders, great and sore, upon Egypt, upon Pharaoh, and upon all his household, before our eyes: and He brought us out from thence, that He might bring us in, to give us the land which He sware unto our fathers. And the Lord commanded us to do all these statutes, to fear the Lord our God, for our good always, that He might preserve us alive, as it is at this day. And it shall be our righteousness, if we observe to do all these commandments before the Lord our God, as He hath commanded us."  {5T 330.1}

We are living in the closing scenes of this earth's history. Prophecy is fast fulfilling. The hours of probation are fast passing. We have no time--not a moment--to lose. Let us not be found sleeping on guard. Let no one say in his heart or by his works: "My Lord delayeth His coming." Let the message of Christ's soon return sound forth in earnest words of warning. Let us persuade men and women everywhere to repent and flee from the wrath to come. Let us arouse them to immediate preparation, for we little know what is before us. Let ministers and lay members go forth into the ripening fields to tell the unconcerned and indifferent to seek the Lord while He may be found. The workers will find their harvest wherever they proclaim the forgotten truths of the Bible. They will find those who will accept the truth and will devote their lives to winning souls to Christ.  {8T 252.4}

The Lord is soon to come, and we must be prepared to meet Him in peace. Let us be determined to do all in our power to impart light to those around us. We are not to be sad, but cheerful, and we are to keep the Lord Jesus ever before us. He is soon coming, and we must be ready and waiting for His appearing. Oh, how glorious it will be to see Him and be welcomed as His redeemed ones! Long have we waited, but our hope is not to grow dim. If we can but see the King in His beauty we shall be forever blessed. I feel as if I must cry aloud: "Homeward bound!" We are nearing the time when Christ will come in power and great glory to take His ransomed ones to their eternal home. {8T 253.1}

"And it shall be said in that day, Lo, this is our God; we have waited for Him, and He will save us: this is the Lord; we have waited for Him, we will be glad and rejoice in His salvation." Isaiah 25:9.{8T 253.2}

Isaiah, an Old Testament prophet, foretold many things about Jesus’ life and His Second Coming. In fact, Isaiah is one of the most important books in the Old Testament. It is not only a narrative story, but also a collection of oracles, prophecies and parables. Isaiah, who authors the book, wrote it around 700 B.C. Isaiah’s name means “The Lord is salvation.” He lived in Jerusalem and the prophecies God gave him were directed toward Israel, Judah and other nations. Isaiah’s purpose was to bring back the nation of Judah – God’s nation – back to the faithfulness as well as proclaim the coming of the Savior, and His future reign. He brings the message to Judah and Israel of condemnation as well as a message of hope and salvation through the coming of the Messiah, Jesus Christ. Because Isaiah’s prophecies about Jesus Christ’s life are true, we can know that his prophecies about the Second Coming will be fulfilled.

Isaiah is appropriately called the Messianic prophet. No other seems to have had so clear a picture of the holiness and greatness of God, of the person and mission of Christ, and of God’s glorious purpose for His church. Isaiah is rghtly regarded as the king of Israel’s celebrated prophets; and his writings the masterpiece of all prophetic writings.

The things that happened to Judah in Isa 7,8,9, 11 foreshadows greater events in the future – type and anti-type). In Isa 9 & 11 there is also an intermingling of the events relating to the first coming and the second coming of Christ. Jesus is introduced as Emmanuel – God with us  and then when Judah is inundated with a flood , Emmanuel is there (Isa 7, 8 ,9:6,.  He is the everlasting Father, the root and branch of David (Isa 11: ) – a supernatural being.

These four chap deals with 1. Galilee’s gloomy situation and the dawn of the light ; 2.  the bearer of that light; the divine human child that is born; 3. The punishment of Judah in ever escalating stages; 4. Messianic prophecy of the root and branch of David; and 5. The song of the deliverance of the capitivity.

2.1. End of Gloom for Galilee (Isa. 9:1–5)

Judah has gone into full blown apostasy, left the ways of the Lord, temple services shut down. King Ahaz has placed idols everywhere and consulting mediums and practicing spiritualism (an abomination to God). Isaiah 8:21, 22 describes the hopeless condition of those who turn to the occult rather than to the true God: wherever they look, they will “see only distress and darkness, the gloom of anguish; and they will be thrust into thick darkness” (Isa. 8:22, NRSV). By contrast (by God’s plan), there will come a time when “there will be no gloom for those who were in anguish” (Isa. 9:1, NRSV). The people of the Galilee region are singled out here as receiving the special blessing of “a great light” (Isa. 9:2, NRSV). The nation will be multiplied and rejoice because God will have broken “the rod of their oppressor” (Isa. 9:4, NRSV). The region of Lake Galilee is depicted here because it was among the first territories of Israel to be conquered. In response to Ahaz’s request for aid, Tiglath-pileser III took the Galilee and Transjordanian regions of northern Israel, carried some of the people captive, and turned the territories into Assyrian provinces (2 Kings 15:29). So, Isaiah’s message is that the first to be conquered would be the first to see deliverance.

God’s people walk in darkness mainly because they ignore and reject the prophetic Word of God. They separate themselves from the Light. Ellen G. White states, “In Isaiah’s day the spiritual understanding of mankind was dark through misapprehension of God. (Long had Satan sought to lead men to look upon their Creator as the author of sin and suffering and death. Those whom he had thus deceived, imagined that God was hard and exacting. They regarded Him as watching to denounce and condemn, unwilling to receive the sinner so long as there was a legal excuse for not helping him.) The law of love by which heaven is ruled had been misrepresented by the archdeceiver as a restriction upon men’s happiness, a burdensome yoke from which they should be glad to escape.”—Prophets and Kings, p. 311.

Looking at things today the world has so many problems that the political leaders many times look for solutions in the wrong places (e.g. Hilary Clinton claims to have talked to the spirit of Eleanor Roosevelt. Nancy Reagan consulted an astrologer to tell President Reagan where to go, what to do and say. Abraham Lincoln consulted spiritist in the midst of the turmoil that existed at that time.)

So where do people look in time of crisis? Are they looking to God for guidance? Are they looking at the spirit world, are they looking at human alliances, are they looking at the political situation without looking at what is going on behind the scenes? In Biblical example, King Saul, the first king which the people demanded to rule over them instead of God himself, who sought a sooth sayer when in a very desperate situation  which led to deeper darkness and finally to his death. Surprisingly, these people have seen God working in their lives and in their communities but in their quest to be like other people, other nations, to have the things that they have that they begin to remove themselves from their beliefs and their history of following God and slide into apostasy.

God’s warning given in His word is very clear:

Isa 8:18 “ Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.” ( Isaiah is committed to looking for sign and wonders as he and his family has fear in the Lord  which is the beginning of wisdom and understanding” )

Isa 8:19  “And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead? (To believe the dead are not dead and they can come back and communicate with the living (believe in spirit and ghost) instead of the word of the only true living God (that the dead is asleep until awakened for judgment day).

Isa 8:20  “To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.  (Our only protection in the end time is not in human alliances, not consulting the supposed spirit of the dead, but in consulting and trusting in God  and living by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. This is the message we need today, especially in a time of affliction, of distress and when things are difficult and leaders are looking for answers. The Bible has the answers)

1.2. “Signs and Wonders” (Isa 8:18)

This sermon followed the Bible study in Worship Service - 01/30/2021 - Pastor Stephen Bohr and Pastor James Rafferty (1:08:53- 1:58:29) that focuses on the phrase ‘signs and wonders’ in Isa 8:18 and amplifies it to point to the greatest biblical sign or wonders that was ever given to mankind. Isaiah focuses on our Saviour, Jesus Christ which is vital for us to know in order to believe in this truth in the word of God and obey His teaching to the end of time.  We want to know how that was given to us and also be manifested in our lives today.

We don’t generally understand them to be in relation to us. Sometime we look at outward manifestation. But, here we are told that God’s people are for signs and wonders.

There will be many professed people at the end of time that will declare that they have done many wonderful works and signs for God. But Jesus is going to say I never knew you. You workers of iniquity depart from me. (Matt 7:21-23) (So, be not deceived that simply to belief, attend church and do good works is sufficient for your salvation)But in the Book of Acts, there are many examples of genuine signs of true believers (Acts 2:43). So the early church was filled with the Holy Spirit and these signs were given as a manifestation, as a marked confirmation that God was working with them and the Holy Spirit was working through them. The enemy is always seeking to counterfeit the genuine signs in his people. The genuine sign lead to biblical trust, to biblical faith and biblical obedience to God’s word. It is to strengthen our faith, our obedience, and to accomplish God’s work in God’s commission given (Mk 16:17-20).

The greatest sign to encourage their faith is in the prophecy depicted by Isa 7:1-2. Israel, the Northern ten tribes, and Syria have confederated together to take Judah, and are surrounding the city of Jerusalem, Ahaz and his people are terrified as there is no way out. (Sometimes our circumstance cause us to be unable to move; like what our world is experiencing today we are afflicted from many fronts but we can’t really see the enemy and we are not sure which way to go. We are frightened and afraid and lockdown.)  Isaiah is given specific instruction to go and meet Ahaz with his son whose name mean a remnant shall return- Isa 7:3) The word of the Lord to Ahaz is the hope for us that in times of such circumstance when people are out to destroy us (when leaders are making secret plans against us to take us down, even evil counsels to break us, when our lives are in complete turmoil,

Here is the message of God when we are at the mercy of our enemy, “take heed and fear not” v4.”Because Syria, Ephraim, and the son of Remaliah, have taken evil counsel against thee, ..shall not stand, neither shall it come to pass.” vv 5- 7. Here is the message of hope and encouragement. God always sends us a message of hope and God sends us in a personal practical way (a message of deliverance where we are ) He knows exactly where Isaiah  needs to go, He gives him specific instruction to meet the king as He is the all knowing God and knows how to speak to us  a message of hope. As we find in Isa 7: God give specific instruction to find the lost (v 3) and gives the lost specific instruction to find hope (vv 4,.7) and He gives also specific warning against failing to trust Him (v9). Only believe and I will take care of the rest. Everything we need to know to get us through difficulty is right here in Isa Chap 7. It is about God’s care for us and everything we need to know about His understanding of our situation. Everything we need to know about what God knows about us, about others and how He has already worked out our deliverance from the evil plans of the wicked: from the leaders of the confederate against Ahaz, Everything is in God’s hand.

2.3. Asking for a Sign

Something else that is quite significant and profound in v10. God is asking Ahaz to ask Him for a sign.  In the New Testament (NT) there is quite a bit of information about asking for a sign. Mainly it is about the unbelieving Jews continually asking Jesus to give them a sign that He was the Messiah.(This applies to modern day atheist and unbeliever). This was asked after Jesus had performed an amazing wonder (miracle) in casting a devil out of a man that was blind and dumb Matt 12: 38-39. This was the wonder given to them already and therefore their request was not genuine. Jesus has already manifested a clear sign, a clear evidence of His messiah-ship and yet they were not accepting this sign.

Another one is found in Mat 16:1. The Religious leaders asked Jesus again for a sign but their motives are clearly asking for this sign to tempt or entice Christ. Similarly in Jn 6:30 it was the people asking for a sign shortly after they have seen a miracle Christ performed before of loaves and fishes  where He fed thousands of people with five loaves of bread and two fishes. They were now asking for another one. Jesus would refuse to give the Jews another sign because they would not believe when they already have one. As more signs weren’t going to change anything with them since the first signs had already been discounted. (This is the danger that we are having this attitude of not believing in Jesus Christ as our saviour sent by God, the Father, to reveal His reality to us since we can’t see Him)

Yet the Bible gives us a different picture of signs even in the NT. For example John tells us that Jesus did so many signs and wonder that the world could not contain the books that could be written about them (Jn 20 :30);  So why do God gives signs to people and then turns around and give no signs to other who even asks for it. Obviously it is about the receptivity of the heart and of the mind. Those who were stubborn, who were tempting, enticing and trapping, who were unbelieving, who weren’t accepting previous signs already given He was not going to give any more signs. Jesus would not even give a sign to help Himself out of a bad situation  as when He was brought before Herod ( Luk 23: 8).

Jesus give signs to help people who were weak in faith and at other time refused because it was stubbornness through unbelief; and a sign would not change anything. God would give signs to those who are weak in faith, and yet honestly seeking evidence of His power or His leading in their lives. This is especially seen throughout the NT gospels and the early church experience as recorded in the book of Acts. Similarly In the Old Testament (OT), we have Gideon, a man who fear the Lord, a man of God who asked for two signs. He felt unsure of himself, his talents and capabilities, even to trust in God for this calling. That was the context he begins to ask for signs to be sure that God will be with him to save Israel by “my hands” (Jud 6:36). In this state of uncertainty yet willing he is allowed to ask for a sign from God. This sign asking is honest and heartfelt. It bears fruit and leads Gideon to trust God, to move forward with faith. Gideon was weak, being unsure he needed assurance that God was leading him in his life. God honoured with two signs. God does that for our lack of faith when we honestly ask for help seeking to follow His will. God will do for us as he did for Gideon. Gideon asked for two signs that changed his life and became a warrior for God’s cause. The Story of Ahaz is the distinguished standout apart from the many times throughout the Bible. It is. not our place to prove God by signs, to force God to give us some kind of signs but God does ask us to prove Him ( Mal 3:10) and let Him open up the windows of heaven to prove to you, let me work signs and wonders.

Signs often confirm God’s care and love, to affirm that He will do and be there for us in our times of dire need. He confirms His help to us not just a little sign but sometimes a very big one. 11 “Ask a sign for yourself from the Lord your God; ask it either in the depth or in the height above.” God came to rescue Ahaz in the time of his nation greatest danger and he is afraid and terrified. By sending Isaiah to bring his son to meet Ahaz with a message not to be afraid of the conspiracy for He will deliver him and a remnant will return. All Ahaz has to do is to believe and trust Him. He can even ask for a sign was the motivation coming from God twice through Isaiah. But Ahaz flatly turned down the offer. Ahaz refused to let God give him who is weak in faith a sign to save him from being lost.  God’s Signs are given to strengthen the weak. Ahaz felt that he didn’t need a sign and say that he would then tempt the Lord. He was filled with self righteous piety. He fits the description of a Laodicean, the end time church of the world, who behaves as though he was rich and increased with goods and in need of nothing. In his pious response talking like a true believer in God but his action proved he was not as he shunned God’s encouragement. He shunned Isaiah’s request to ask for a sign, a request that was made twice. How many of us will respond like Ahaz in our pious self-sufficiency? I won’t ask God. I’m not going to ask God for a sign. God isn’t going to give me a sign. That would be presumptuous to just ask God for a sign. Yet God promises us to do away with our human pride. God is working to convert us, to lead us to revival, to help us out of our difficult situation, out of our fear, out of our lockdown, out of our circumstances. God is initiating a response from us, initiating a process that He wants us to enter into. He is helping us to acknowledging our weakness that we are wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked; and by faith to trust in Him. He wants to build your trust in Him through these signs that He promises to give us when we ask in humility. By refusing His offer to give us a sign we are refusing to let God lead us to repentance and to conversion, to faith and to trust, to hope and to victory.

2.3.1 God’s Sign for Mankind Salvation

God then offered the all important sign of the Bible to people that He had covenanted

Isa 7:13  And he said, Hear ye now, O house of David; Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will ye weary my God also?

Isa 7:14  Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel

There it is, a moment of prophetic rebuke opens up to us the greatest sign in the Bible “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” This is the sign of Jesus Christ being born of the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary. This was given to this apostate king. This sign of all signs points us to the Messiah. This sign is going to change the world forever. This sign is going to bring hope to all mankind. This sign given to the apostate king is going to bring redemption to all apostates till the end of time for as many as will receive and believe.

To understand this sign and the true importance we need to go forward to the NT in the gospel of Luke where we find the sign fulfilled in the life of Mary and Jesus, Immanuel

2.3.1.1. Birth of Jesus Foretold

Luk 1:26  And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God unto a city of Galilee, named Nazareth,

Luk 1:27  To a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the virgin's name was Mary.

Luk 1:28  And the angel came in unto her, and said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.

Luk 1:29  And when she saw him, she was troubled at his saying, and cast in her mind what manner of salutation this should be.

Luk 1:30  And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary: for thou hast found favour with God.

Luk 1:31  And, behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS.

Luk 1:32  He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest: and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of his father David:

Luk 1:33  And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever; and of his kingdom there shall be no end.

This is the old, old story of Jesus the Christ, the Messiah, the Deliverer, the Saviour, the Son of the Highest, the son of David, the King of Israel forever. All these were first intimated to an apostate king who refused a sign from God.

Notice next how Mary respond, so different from Ahaz and yet still revealing to us the weakness of our humanity.

Luk 1:34  Then said Mary unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? (Justifiably, Mary ask, How come I can conceive and bring forth a son without having a sexual relationship with a man. (In this age of modern technology that would not be a big problem).This genuine question was answered by a full revelation of the miracle of this conception.

Luk 1:35  And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.

(Luk 1:36  And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren.

Luk 1:37  For with God nothing shall be impossible.

Luk 1:38  And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.)

This message from the Book of Isaiah in Chap 7 must be connected with Luke Chap 1  in order to understand the reality of Christ and those who are like Christ, called Christians.

Christ was born of the Holy Ghost. He was born of the Holy Spirit from conception (on December 25 - six months after John the Baptist, His cousin - v 36  See  D20 Discovery Trip into Xmas Myth at http://www.discoverylifediy.com/441400672 ) He was born of God. He did not have any human father. He was born of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary. He had an earthly mother but He had a Divine Father.

Christians are born of earthly fathers. All of humanity have earthly mothers and fathers, even if we are born outside of that relationship. We must be born from human cells and have humanity on both sides. However, unless we are born again experience described in the Bible as human beings who have been conceived by a human father and human mother being born again not by a human father but by the Holy Spirit, just like Christ was born of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary.  We see this all through the NT for example in Gal 4:19  My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,  Paul touches on this experience as it relates to Christ. There is this travailing, this birth pains he is inferring taking place in his own life as he is wanting Christ to be formed within us, just like Christ was formed in Mary. The Holy Spirit is reforming Christ within us. That is why believers of Christ are calledl Christians because we are to be like Christ through the new birth experience of the Holy Spirit. Notice this reference by Paul to birth that leads to Christ being born within the believer, the Christian. This is the working of the Holy Spirit.

2.3.1.2. Christians must be Born Again

This great sign given by God to Ahaz through Isaiah points to Christ who was born of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary. In a secondary sense it points to the followers of Jesus who are called to be Christ-like or Christians through the daily born-again experience of the Holy Spirit in us as Jesus Himself testifies in Jn 3:3 “Jesus answered and said unto him (Nicodemus), Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.“.

Joh 3:4  Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

Joh 3:5  Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. (In this way, God through the Holy Spirit I to manifest signs and wonders in God’s people in the end of time through a born again experience similar to what Christ had at his birth. The Holy Spirit is going to birth us, believe it.)

Joh 3:6  That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.

Joh 3:7  Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.

Joh 3:8  The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit. That is why Isa 8:18 summarises this sign that was given as a continuation of this theme,this thought, this idea of us being like signs and wonders Jesus .was the sign and greatest wonder ever seen , ever given by God. Isa 8:18  Behold, I and the children whom the LORD hath given me are for signs and for wonders in Israel from the LORD of hosts, which dwelleth in mount Zion.” (This verse summarises the entire message that God is giving to us in Isaiah 2700 years ago.)

Does God wants to perform signs and wonders in these last days?

Absolutely, God wants to perform the greatest signs and greatest wonders that can be performed and that is the new birth experience in us, the believers, Human being fallen and degraded being born again completely turned around in their lives by the goodness of God, led to lead a life of obedience and to leave a life of sin. This is the greatest wonder when your life is changed such that your neighbours will want to know what happened to you. This is the sign that will set the world on fire as God’s Holy Spirit is manifested in our lives in the end time. (Coming up next in D28 Discovering the  Victory over Sin Miracle,)

Joh 3:9  Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?

Joh 3:10  Jesus answered and said unto him, Art thou a master of Israel, and knowest not these things?

Joh 3:11  Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness.

Joh 3:12  If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things

Joh 3:13  And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.

Joh 3:14  And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

Joh 3:15  That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. ( Ellen White succinctly provided these three statements:

The conversion of the human soul is of no little consequence. It is the greatest miracle performed by divine power. Actual results are to be reached through a belief in Christ as a personal Saviour. Purified by obedience to the law of God, sanctified by a perfect observance of His holy Sabbath, trusting, believing, patiently waiting, and earnestly working out our own salvation with fear and trembling, we shall learn that it is God that worketh in us to will and to do of His good pleasure.” --Manuscript 6, 1900.  {Ev 289.2}

We are sometimes asked, Why does not God work miracles through the church today, as He did in the days of the apostles?--Because the church refuses to be guided and controlled by Him. Christ's love in the heart, revealing through the life its wondrous power,--this is the greatest miracle that can be performed before a fallen, quarreling world (Christ’s love in the heart). Let us make it possible for God to work this miracle. Let us put on Christ, and the miracle-working power of His grace will be so plainly revealed, in the transformation of character, that the world will be convinced that God has sent His Son to make men as angels in life and character.  {ST, November 26, 1902 par. 8}

Unbelievers have inquired, "Why are not miracles wrought among those who claim to be God's people?" Brethren, the greatest miracle that can be wrought is the conversion of the human heart. We need to be reconverted, losing sight of self and human ideas, and beholding Christ, that we may be transformed into His likeness. When this the greatest of all miracles is wrought within our hearts, we shall see the workings of other miracles.  {4MR 113.1}

God cannot work through us miraculously while we are unconverted. It would spoil us; for we would take it as an evidence that we were perfect before Him. Our first work is to become perfect in His sight, by living faith claiming His promise of forgiveness. "Ask what ye will," Christ declared to His disciples, "and it shall be done unto you." . . . "Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me." Those who see Christ by living faith, those who abide in Him, will have power to work miracles for His glory.--Ms 169, 1902, p. 14. ("The Work of the St. Helena Sanitarium," July 14, 1902.)  {4MR 113.2}

Man can accomplish nothing without God, and God has arranged His plans so far as to accomplish nothing in the restoration of the human race without the cooperation of the human with the divine. The part man is required to sustain is immeasurably small, yet in the plan of God it is just that part that is needed to make the work a success.-   {4MR 113.3}

2.4. The Fear of the Lord (Isa 8:11-15)

(https://absg.adventist.org/pdf.php?file=2021:1Q:TE:PDFs:ETQ121_04.pdf)

In his first inaugural address, on March 4, 1933, American President Franklin D. Roosevelt told a nation disheartened by the Great Depression, “The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.” Isaiah’s message to depressed people is: we have nothing to fear when we fear God Himself. (Nothing to Fear When We Fear God Himself - Isa. 8:11–15)

God warned Isaiah not to fear what his people feared, but to fear Him (Isa. 8:12, 13). This is an important theme in Scripture. For example, in Revelation 14:6–12, three angels proclaim a worldwide message: fear God and give glory to Him, rather than fearing and giving glory to the earthly beast power described in Revelation 13. (The three angels’ messages as a whole is God’s last warning message to the world that has gone after the beast in the last days, God has appointed the SDA to proclaim this so that everyone must decide on believing in God or worship Satan still and willing accept the mark of the beast. When all have decided then the investigative judgment is completed and probation closes.)

True fear of God as holy means that you recognize Him as the ultimate power* in the universe. Such fear overcomes any other fear. If He is for you, nobody else can touch you without His permission. If He is against you because you have rebelled against Him, you can run, but you can’t hide! Doesn’t the idea that we should fear God contradict 1 John 4:18? “There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear; for fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not reached perfection in love” (NRSV).

There are different kinds of fear. If someone with awesome power is your friend, with whom you share mutual love, you do not fear that person in the sense you think he or she will hurt you. But you have a kind of fear in the sense that you know and respect the power of that person and the boundaries of your relationship.( This is further elaborated next by Pr Shin.)

As Christians we aren’t to love the things of the world, the things people of the world themselves love (1 John 2:15). Thinking, then, along parallel lines, as Christians, are there things the world fears that we as Christians shouldn’t fear? If so, what are they, and why shouldn’t we fear them? At the same time, what things does the world not fear that we Christians should? (See, for instance, Matt. 10:28-“And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.” ; and Jer. 10:2-16, describing the idols of the heathen made by human hands with wood from a tree). Jer 10:10 But the LORD is the true God, he is the living God, and an everlasting king: at his wrath the earth shall tremble, and the nations shall not be able to abide his indignation. Jer 10:12  He hath ‘made the earth by his power’*, he hath established the world by his wisdom, and hath stretched out the heavens by his discretion.Jer 10:14  Every man is brutish in his knowledge: every founder is confounded by the graven image: for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them. Jer 10:15  They are vanity, and the work of errors: in the time of their visitation they shall perish. Jer 10:16. The portion of Jacob is not like them: for he is the former of all things; and Israel is the rod of his inheritance: The LORD of hosts is his name.

(Note on power*: God through Christ ‘made the world by His power* based on -   8Let all the earth fear the LORD; let all the people of the world revere Him. 9For He spoke, and it came to be; He commanded, and it stood firm. (Psa 33:8,9)

“By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God's command, so that what is seen was not made out of what was visible.”-Hebrews 11:3)

It is necessary to know God in order to be attracted to him. And the perception of his image as represented in Christ changes the sinner's views of evil. The shadow of Satan obscures the character of Jesus and of God; but if we by faith gain a knowledge of God, and hold steadfastly to Jesus, we shall be changed. In Jesus is manifested the character of the Father, and the sight of him attracts. It softens and subdues, and ceases not to transform the character, until Christ is formed within, the hope of glory. The human heart that has learned to behold the character of God may become, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, like a sacred harp, sending forth divine melody.  {ST, August 24, 1891 par. 2}

2.4.1. Overcoming Worldly Things

There is a way that seemeth right unto a man, but the end thereof are the ways of death.”- Pro 16:25 (This verse refers to the secular people who do not know God and they are walking in the broad way and have to be told and redirected into the narrow way (Mat 7:13-14)

We that fear the Lord are called to serve to reach out to the souls that have not heard and who make up the proud and the wise men of the world. “Not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called; but God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty. And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, yea, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are" (1 Corinthians 1:26-28); "that your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God" (1 Corinthians 2:5).  {COL 79.2} "The preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God. For it is written, I will destroy the wisdom of the wise, and will bring to nothing the understanding of the prudent." – I Cor 1:18,19. ”The world by wisdom knows not God. Yet God's servants are to improve every opportunity to communicate the truth to these men. Some will acknowledge their ignorance of the things of God and will take their place as humble learners at the feet of Jesus, the Master Teacher.” {AA 241.3}

The most difficult and humiliating lesson which man has to learn, if he is kept by the power of God, is his own inefficiency in depending upon human wisdom, and the sure failure of his own efforts to read nature* correctly. Sin has obscured his vision, and he cannot interpret nature without placing it above God.--U. T., July 3, 1898.  {HL 289.2}

(Note: Nature* is full of lessons of the love of God. Rightly understood, these lessons lead to the Creator. They point from nature to nature's God, teaching those simple, holy truths which cleanse the mind, bringing it into close touch with God. These lessons emphasize the truth that science and religion cannot be divorced.  {3BC 1144.7})

Christ came to this earth to teach men the mysteries of the kingdom of God. But men could not by human reasoning understand His lessons. Man's wisdom cannot originate the science which is divine. . . . When man is reconciled to God, nature speaks to him in words of heavenly wisdom, bearing testimony to the eternal truth of God's Word. As Christ tells us the meaning of the things in nature, the science of true religion flashes forth, explaining the relation of the law of God to the natural and spiritual world (MS 67, 1901).  {3BC 1144.8}

There is another danger to which the wealthy classes are especially exposed, and here also is a field for the work of the medical missionary. Multitudes who are prosperous in the world and who never stoop to the common forms of vice are yet brought to destruction through the love of riches. Absorbed in their worldly treasures, they are insensible to the claims of God and the needs of their fellow men. Instead of regarding their wealth as a talent to be used for the glory of God and the uplifting of humanity, they look upon it as a means of indulging and glorifying themselves. They add house to house and land to land, they fill their homes with luxuries, while want stalks in the streets and all about them are human beings in misery and crime, in disease and death. Those who thus give their lives to self-serving are developing in themselves, not the attributes of God, but the attributes of Satan.  {CH 16.1}

These men are in need of the gospel. They need to have their eyes turned from the vanity of material things to behold the preciousness of the enduring riches. They need to learn the joy of giving, the blessedness of being co-workers with God.  {CH 16.2}

Persons of this class are often the most difficult of access, but Christ will open ways whereby they may be reached. Let the wisest, the most trustful, the most hopeful laborers seek for these souls. With the wisdom and tact born of divine love, with the refinement and courtesy that result alone from the presence of Christ in the soul, let them work for those who, dazzled by the glitter of earthly riches, see not the glory of the heavenly treasure. Let the workers study the Bible with them, pressing sacred truth home to their hearts. Read to them the words of God: "But of Him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption." "Thus saith the Lord, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: but let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth Me, that I am the Lord which exercise loving-kindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the Lord." "In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace." "But my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus." 1 Corinthians 1:30; Jeremiah 9:23,24; Ephesians 1:7; Philippians 4:19.  {CH 16.3}

Such an appeal, made in the spirit of Christ, will not be thought impertinent. It will impress the minds of many in the higher classes.  {CH 17.1}

2.4.2. Shun People in Confederacy (Isa 8:12)

“Say ye not, A confederacy, to all them to whom this people shall say, A confederacy; neither fear ye their fear, nor be afraid.”- Isa 8:12

The question has been asked, What do you mean by a confederacy? Who have formed confederacies? You know what a confederacy is,--a union of men in a work that does not bear the stamp of pure, straightforward, unswerving integrity (MS 29, 1911).  {4BC 1142.5}

 (2 Corinthians 6:17.) The wicked are being bound up in bundles, bound up in trusts, in unions, in confederacies. Let us have nothing to do with these organizations. God is our Ruler, our Governor, and He calls us to come out from the world and be separate. "Come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing." If we refuse to do this, if we continue to link up with the world, and to look at every matter from a worldly standpoint, we shall become like the world. When worldly policy and worldly ideas govern our transactions, we cannot stand on the high and holy platform of eternal truth (MS 71, 1903).  {4BC 1142.6}

Good and Evil Angels in Human Form on Field of Action.--Satanic agencies in human form will take part in this last great conflict to oppose the building up of the kingdom of God. And heavenly angels in human guise will be on the field of action. Men and women have confederated to oppose the Lord God of heaven, and the church is only half awake to the situation. There needs to be much more of prayer, much more of earnest effort among professed believers.  {4BC 1142.7}

The two opposing parties will continue to exist till the closing up of the last great chapter in this world's history. Satanic agencies are in every city. We cannot afford to be off our guard for one moment (Letter 42, 1909).  {4BC 1142.8}

2.4.2.1. Satan Ever-Parting Heaven from Earth

The satanic agencies are constantly at work, sowing and watering the seeds of rebellion against the law of God, and Satan is gathering souls under his black banner of revolt. He forms a confederacy with human beings to contend against purity and holiness. He has worked diligently, perseveringly, increasing the number who will confederate with him. By his representations he seeks to widen the distance between heaven and earth, and he grows into the conviction that he can wear out the patience of God, extinguish his love for man, and bring condemnation upon the whole human family.  {RH, October 21, 1902 par. 1}

Let the watchmen on the walls of Zion not join with those who are making of none effect the truth as it is in Christ. Let them not join the confederacy of infidelity, popery, and Protestantism in exalting tradition above Scripture, reason above revelation, and human talent above the divine influence and the vital power of godliness.  {RH, March 24, 1896 par. 13}

2.4.2.2. We Need the Divine Touch

2.4.2.3. Satan’s Confederacy- Fallen Angels & Fallen Men

Through apostasy, fallen men and fallen angels are in the same confederacy, leagued to work against good. They are united in a desperate companionship. Through his evil angels, Satan contrives to form an alliance with professedly pious men, and thus he leaves the church of God. He knows that if he can induce men, as he induced the angels, to join in rebellion, under the guise of servants of God, he will have in them his most successful allies in his enterprise against heaven. Under the name of godliness, he can inspire them with his own accusing spirit, and lead them to charge God's servants with evil and guile. They are his trained detectives; their work is to create feuds, to make charges which create discord and bitterness among brethren, to set tongues in active service for Satan, to sow seeds of dissension by watching for evil, and by speaking of that which will create discord.  {RH, September 14, 1897 par. 3}

2.4.2.3.1. Stop Murmuring and Complaining

I beseech all who engage in the work of murmuring and complaining because something has been said or done that does not suit them, and that does not, as they think, give them due consideration, to remember that they are carrying on the very work begun in heaven by Satan. They are following in his track, sowing unbelief, discord, and disloyalty; for no one can entertain feelings of disaffection, and keep them to himself. He must tell others that he is not treated as he should be. Thus they are led to murmur and complain. This is the root of bitterness springing up, whereby many are defiled.  {RH, September 14, 1897 par. 4}

Thus Satan works today through his evil angels. He confederates with men who claim to be in the faith; and those who are trying to carry forward the work of God with fidelity, having no man's person in admiration, working without hypocrisy and partiality, will have just as severe trials brought against them as Satan can bring through those who claim to love God. Proportionate to the light and knowledge these opposers have is Satan's success. The root of bitterness strikes deep, and is communicated to others. Thus many are defiled. Their statements are confused and untruthful, their principles are unscrupulous, and Satan finds in them the very helpers he needs.  {RH, September 14, 1897 par. 5}

The only remedy for our churches, for our families, and for individuals, is entire conformity to the will and character of God. Unless God shall work through the two olive-trees, his witnesses, causing them to empty from themselves the golden oil through the golden tubes into the golden bowl, and hence to the burning lamps, representing the church, no one will be safe for a moment from the machinations of Satan. He will, if possible, deprave human nature, and assimilate it to his own corrupt principles. But this golden oil will revive the Spirit of God in the heart of man. A Christlike principle will be introduced which will be like leaven. Through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit, satanic agencies will be overcome.  {RH, September 14, 1897 par. 6

Envy and jealousy are diseases which disorder all the faculties of the being. They originated with Satan in paradise. He started on the track of apostasy, and his jealous spirit caused him to see many things that were objectionable, even in heaven. After he fell, he envied Adam and Eve their innocence. He tempted them to sin, and they yielded, and became like himself, disloyal to God. But they repented of their sin, received Christ, and returned to their loyalty. So the enemy tempts men and women today. Those who listen to his voice will demerit others, and will misrepresent and falsify in order to build up themselves. But nothing that defiles can enter heaven, and unless those who cherish this spirit are changed, they can never enter there for they would criticize the angels. They would envy another's crown. They would not know what to talk of unless they could bring up the imperfections and errors of others. O that such would become changed by beholding Christ! O that they would become meek and lowly by learning of him! Then they would go forth, not as missionaries for Satan, to cause disunion and alienation, to bruise and mangle character, but as missionaries for Christ, to be peacemakers and to restore. Let the Holy Spirit come in and expel this unholy passion, which cannot survive in heaven. Let it die; let it be crucified. Open the heart to the attributes of Christ, who was holy, harmless, undefiled.  {RH, September 14, 1897 par. 7}  :

2.4.3. The Multi-faceted Word of God

For anyone who is interested to know, it is simply a matter of a Google search on “What is the Fear of the Lord,” To illustrate the many facets in the word of God based on “What Is the Fear of God?” is two articles:

1.What Is the Fear of God?

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTETQuma3nk What Is the Fear of God? Jan 6, 2020 LIKEDISLIKESHARESAVE)

The concept of fearing God may be confusing. Why would God want us to feel this way towards Him? This video, part of the Christian Living Series, explains how this fear enables us to understand and follow God's will. God doesn't want us to be afraid of Him; rather, He wants us to love Him with respect to His words and commandments.

Scripture tells us that the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.(Pro 9:10) which is the key to knowing God and what pleases Him. In knowing the will of God we are endowed with power to depart from evil and do what is right according to God’s commandments. Thus we won’t sin against him .The Lord hates all things that are evil; pride and arrogance, the way of evil  and perverted speech

Seeking God’s favour and wanting to be well pleasing and acceptable to him developed from a profound measure of respect for God by holding a deep regard in doing things he approves  by keeping the ten commandments and not offend or sin against his laws of love. In so doing we become sensitive, considerate and mindful towards Him and inculcate the character and attitude in closed human relationship because love is tied to respect.

This becomes the principle and continuous attitude by which we live. A transformation of our character shaped by the Holy Spirit when the fear of God rules in our hearts. We will always be conscientious of keeping His commandments and doing His will. It affects even our relationships with other people in every aspects of our lives. From our speech, and conduct to our habits and behaviours. Christians who exhibit this trait are described as being righteous, upright and blameless.

The actions and choice we make in our lives reveals our trust and faith in God. Abraham was able to offer his only son Isaac as a sacrifice. Noah was moved to to build an ark when given the divine warning of the great flood.

So fearing God is the basis of our relationship with Him and the foundation of our faith. We believe in His word that He is the Creator and Supreme Sovereign of the universe. As he is the source of our lives we ought to be beholden to him and be thankful and in awe of his greatness rather than be terrified by it . It is so vital to recognize that God is worthy of the highest honour and to give that honour to Him.

As God sees and understand everything we encounter, and He is desirous of changing us from our evil propensities due to our fallen nature our motivation in honouring God is not repaying evil with evil. It is for our eternal good since He is the Judge and He is in control of what happens to us. When we respect God in this way He enables us to gather strength and wisdom from Him to do good to those who hate us and pray for those who persecute us.

God desires to set us apart and live holy lives in what we do and what we think. Therefore, a better motivation for us to resist temptation would be to honour God by presenting our bodies a living sacrifice, holy and blameless and acceptable to Him.  We also extend this devotion throughout our thoughts and action by refraining from unholy thoughts and sinful desires.

The Fear of God is not to cower in a corner, hiding from the wrath of His anger. We do not fear God because we are afraid of Him, but because we love Him. The Fear of God is to be in awe of Him - to trust and honor Him above all else, above anyone else.

2. Benefits in “Fear of the Lord”

As the word of God has many layers of meaning, here is another from the internet search by Dr. Brown looking at what is the 'Fear of the Lord' and how it benefits believers.

(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_lgBUw17FgQ What Is The Fear of the Lord? Mar 5, 2017 51211SHARESAVE)

God is love and perfect love casts out fear ( 1 Jn 4:8 )  so the fear of the Lord as rightly understood by Job whom God declares to Satan as a righteous man  Job 28:28 speaks of reverential awe of God, recognizing He is the Almighty Creator and Judge and our very breath is in His hand. This acceptance and belief of the sacred and holy reality awakens us to our spiritual poverty and our helplessness and total dependence on our need of a Saviour and to cherish and worship Him.

Apostle Paul offers a balanced perspective, saying “Let us offer to God acceptable worship, with reverence and awe, for our God is a consuming fire (Hebrews 12:28–29) To Fear the Lord starts with understanding Him correctly. God is all powerful and all knowing. He is love, and he is judge. For an unbeliever, the eternal judgment of God for sin, is something to be genuinely afraid of. For the believer, remembering that God will lovingly discipline us, in order to teach and correct us when we wander from his will, that discipline is also something we should fear. Job understood this balance well when he said, “Behold, the fear of the Lord, that is wisdom.” We are to fear the Lord not because we are scared of God, but because we understand His power and response to sin. To fear the Lord is to revere God - because of his character, and worship Him in awe - because of his Love.

In submitting to Him in total surrender, and giving up all our earthly and fallen ways of life is how then do I live by the wisdom that God will provide anyone who seeks Him in spirit and in truth. This is the turning away from evil. Under His guidance who is holy and powerful, not the monster tyran. He is just and righteous. The book of Psalms provide the way to live in the light to navigate in the darkness we may encounter in  our sojourn  in this world which is not our home as we are just passing through on the way to our heavenly home.

In spending time to study about Him we get to know the will of God. It is His desire that all  sinners to turn from their evil ways and return to him who is the tower of strength and we can be save in his refuge, He protects us from stumbling with His light as He is the all knowing God. He protects us from the traps of the enemy. In addition He blessed us with favours and promises of a peaceful and blessed life.

We now get to the deeper study in truly studying the deep things in God’s word. Pr. David Shin discusses what it means to “Fear God and Give Him Glory” in the context of the first angel’s message, found in Revelation 14:7)

2.4.4. “Fear God and give Him Glory”- Rev 14:7

(05 - “Three Angels’ Messages: Fear God and give Him Glory” - David Shin Jun 12, 2018 24313SHARESAVE at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdorxeNYOqA&t=137s

The message (Rev 14:6-7) addresses the geopolitical setting in Rev 13:1-3 where the sea beast reign, a composite of four animals described in Dan 7, is rising up out of a populated area (Rev 17:15). This is Satan’s masterpiece, an image synthesising all pagan practices that have been developed since Babylon. This beast was mortally wounded “and his deadly wound was healed: all the world is wondered after the beast” (Rev 13:7) This is being fulfilled today. We are witnessing in Protestant America today is wandering and marveling after the beast power. “And they worshipped the dragon which gave power unto the beast: and they worshipped the beast, saying, Who is like unto the beast? who is able to make war with him?”- Rev 13:4. (This verse points out worship will be the end-time central issue with the whole world in disbelief of God.) There is another lamb like beast (Rev 13:11) rising from the land that colluded with the sea beast There will be an enforcement of worship. “And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”- Rev 13:17. (There is worship, giving glory and fear of the beast. It is in this geopolitical context that the first angel’s message is to be proclaimed. The lesson is not to become so political that we become unbiblical especially during the presidential election, the Bible tells us a time will come when being biblical is going o be perceived as unpatriotic. This happened in Protestant Germany displaying a swastika next to the cross with pastors giving allegiance to Adolf Hitler. If we are caught up in the political machinery we won’t be able to to give the three angels’ messages.

The continuity of the message to understand the phrase fully is “Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him…”(Rev 14:7) This will be shared in part 2 which emphasises there is to be only two groups of people in the end of time. One will worship the beast, give glory and fear him. The other group of people will fear God, will give glory and worship God. The choice is ours as to who we will worship in the end-time.

The verb “Fear” indicates the issues that are going to be prevalent in the end-time. “Fearing God means to revere, to respect and hold in awe.  Definition of “Respect” is a feeling of deep admiration for someone. Respect means to demonstrate high regard for an individual, Love and respect is addressed by Paul on the most intimate human relationship, which is in marriage for “Husbands, love your wives” (Eph 5:25) “and so love his wife even as himself; and the wife see that she reverence (respect)her husband.”-v33. He is indicating the trait of each gender. It is easier for the men to love than to respect and for the woman to respect in addition to love. We live in an age of unconditional love and respect is a form of love. In the vicious cycle of a marriage disagreement when a man feels disrespected he responds by being unloving and when a man is unloving a woman responds with disrespect. The solution is for the more mature gender whoever it might be needs to decide to give my other half unconditional love or unconditional respect to start a new cycle in their relationship.

Love and respect are essential in the most intimate human relationship this side of heaven, The emphasis of the first angels message is an emphasis on respect, Could it be we  are living in a culture today that emphasises a false type of relationship with God of love to the exclusion of respect. God is disrespected in today’s culture This is emphasised in the first angel’s message expressing the need to respect, a feeling of reverence and awe. When you respect someone it plays into how you interact with that individual and today God has been denigrated to boyfriend or a buddy to the place where there is no respect or awe in our relationship and in our behaviour with Him. Solomon had counselled “Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter: Fear God, and keep his commandments: for this is the whole duty of man.”-Ecc 12:13. (Love is the primary motivation and so is respect essential in our relationship with God.)

“Give  Glory to Him” has implications about good works  to glorify God ( Matt 5:16) and what you eat, drink, and do with our body gives glory to God (1Cor10:31) meaning the Christian lifestyle. Could it be in our contemporary we are living in an age where a gospel is being presented that says that grace give you license to live whatever lifestyle you’d like to live. It doesn’t matter what you do to your body and you can live any way you want.

Quote from William Temple: “Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of the conscience by His holiness. It is the nourishment of the mind with His truth, the purifying of the imagination with His beauty, the opening of the heart to His love , the surrender of the will to His purpose. All this gathered up in adoration, the most selfless emotion of our nature is capable is worship. Worship is a universal human need and God is caling us to worship not the beast but to worship the Creator. ( 27:11)

2.4.4.1. Partnership in Worship

Discussed here is the working out the nature of the partnership in the worship of God in fear (love and respect). The emphasis in the first angel message seems to be all our part in the worship. But Jesus tells us that without Him we can do nothing (Jn 15:5). Therefore in order for us to be able to proclaim the messages we need to know about the biblical relationship between faith and works. between law and grace and between God’s part and man’s part as expressed by Paul: Php 2:12 “ Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.” Php 2:13  “For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.” This tension is played out in theological history with Predestination (salvation wholly decided by God- Calvinist “once saved always saved”) versus Roman Catholic ideology of Salvation by works. John Wesley then contributed Prevenient grace where God comes to the sinner and even though our ability to choose is held under bondage to sin. Prevenient grace comes and vivifies the will so that we can choose. Even our desires need His vivifying power. We can’t feel sorry and repent until you come to Jesus. So when you choose God  we get absolutely zero credit because that choice ultimately comes from God. This confirms God has given us free will, but man gets absolutely zero credit in our salvation. Yet there is a co-operation between God’s part and man’s part. In Phi 2:13,12. We work out our responsibilities in spiritual growth and all the while in mysterious and often invisible ways God works for us for His purposes. The co-labouring is not at all as if God is simply doing things to us like in a brain surgery, the surgeon needing feedback from the patient. “Human effort avails nothing without divine power; and without human endeavor, divine effort is with many of no avail. To make God's grace our own, we must act our part. His grace is given to work in us to will and to do, but never as a substitute for our effort. . . . Those who walk in the path of obedience will encounter many hindrances. Strong, subtle influences may bind them to the world; but the Lord is able to render futile every agency that works for the defeat of His chosen ones; in His strength they may overcome every temptation, conquer every difficulty.  {AG 253.6} .

2.4.4.1.1. The Beginning of Wisdom

Daniel in the Book of Daniel, Ch 1 shared that in acquiring the wisdom of the Babylonians (as captives under the duress of King Nebuchadnessar ), Daniel and his companions were far more successful than their fellow students; but their learning did not come by chance. They obtained their knowledge by the faithful use of their powers, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. They placed themselves in connection with the Source of all wisdom, making the knowledge of God the foundation of their education. In faith they prayed for wisdom, and they lived their prayers. They placed themselves where God could bless them. They avoided that which would weaken their powers, and improved every opportunity to become intelligent in all lines of learning. They followed the rules of life that could not fail to give them strength of intellect. They sought to acquire knowledge for one purpose--that they might honor God. They realized that in order to stand as representatives of true religion amid the false religions of heathenism they must have clearness of intellect and must perfect a Christian character. And God Himself was their teacher. Constantly praying, conscientiously studying, keeping in touch with the Unseen, they walked with God as did Enoch.  {LHU 193.2}

2.4.4.1.2. The Two Centers of Influence

The first law of planetary motion by Johannes Kepler in 1605 states that all planets move in elliptical orbits, revolving around the sun as one of the focus focus. It is not circular as previously believed. It is the path traced out with two centres instead of one for the circle. This law is applicable in clarifying the theological tensions in Scripture. To this can be illustrated in the nature*1 of Christ who is both divine and human. The history of Christology brought out the camp (Gnosticism*2 or Doceticism) that says Christ was divine and was not really human explaining that He looked like human but was not and need not be so as He is God and can be anything that he wished to be. The emphasis was on the exclusion of His humanity. Then another camp held that Jesus was human but was never really God. The Bible has stated that man can only understand the mystery of goodness as it is revealed to him by the Holy Spirit of the sacred spiritual dimension. Kepler discovery about existence of two centers holding the relationship in space between the planets leads us to accept the two centric points of Christ divinity and humanity to the power that will draw all men to Him. This is the force in God’s design law operating in the Gospel whether it be  faith and works; whether it be justification and sanctification;; whether it be law and grace; We need to hold both these up and affirm their connectivity in order to sustain the cycle of life, as expressed in the law of God.

(Note *1:- Christ nature*1 is both human ( Son of man) and divinity ( Son of God). In the human nature, he took the nature of Adam after his fall. He is our example to teach us the way to overcome sin to vindicate that God’s law can be obeyed defeating the charge of Satan that God’s law cannot be obeyed.

The inspired writing explains: “Christ is the ladder that Jacob saw, the base resting on the earth, and the topmost round reaching to the gate of heaven, to the very threshold of glory. If that ladder had failed by a single step of reaching the earth, we should have been lost. But Christ reaches us where we are. He took our nature and overcame, that we through taking His nature might overcome. Made "in the likeness of sinful flesh" (Romans 8:3), He lived a sinless life. Now by His divinity He lays hold upon the throne of heaven, while by His humanity He reaches us. He bids us by faith in Him attain to the glory of the character of God. Therefore are we to be perfect, even as our "Father which is in heaven is perfect." “ {RC 24.3} ( Watch (22 min to 45 min) “Why Does the Nature of Christ Matters ? -Pastor Dennis Priebe Jan 3, 2016 1308SHARESAVE at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dhZS3CkVH_U )

2.4.4.1.2.1 Faith and Works

In Faith and works we have come to the true understanding that our inheritance is not earned by our lived out righteousness. But belonging to the family and being heir is confirmed by it. Good works are indispensible to salvation, not as the grounds or means, however, but as its consequence and evidence. In the end of time there will be a group of people that proclaims the three everlasting gospel and have the understanding between faith and works

The Bible is very clear we are not saved by works. “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:”- Eph 2:8. “Not of works, lest any man should boast.”-Eph 2:9.  (According to Ellen White all of our righteousness is like filthy rags and needs the righteousness of Christ.)

James also maintains that man is justified by works not by faith alone-Ja 2:24. Works is the fruit of Faith in the righteousness of Jesus, not for meritorious salvation, not for earning our way to salvation. Going by the emphasis in the first angel message that in the end of time there is going to be a false gospel to say that it is essential in the human life no transformation that bears fruit and that impact your behavior or your lifestyle; However, the Bible says that God’s last day people is going to present a grace centered, Christ centered message that says God’s power is not only available to shield us from the penalty of sin but from the power of sin. In believing that we must have works for our salvation (The Roman Catholic faith insists that works (personal works is essential for salvation) insinuating that sin is so powerful that even God can’t give us the victory.

Jesus says, “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me”- Joh 15:4. “I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.”- Joh 15: Jesus uses an analogy, an illustration to give us an understanding as to the relationship between Faith and works. Fruit will be the natural result if we abide in Christ. The focus of the Christian is to be connected to the vine (Christ centered).

“That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;”- Col 1:10.

When Christ abides in the heart, the whole nature is transformed. Christ's Spirit, His love, softens the heart, subdues the soul, and raises the thoughts and desires toward God and heaven.  {SC 73.1}  This is what God wants to do through us. Jesus abides in us through the agency of the Holy Spirit. When we invite the Holy Spirit into our hearts and minds there is a transformation that takes place within each of us. This is the manifestation of the motif “Christ in me the hope of glory that the study specifically on the Holy Spirit of 1 Jh 3:24 provided “And he that keepeth his commandments dwelleth in him, and he in him. And hereby we know that he abideth in us, by the Spirit which he hath given us.” So the key to fearing God and giving Him glory is to have a generation of individuals that are spirit filled as never before. It is not once filled always as we are porous vessel. “It is necessary for us to be  “constantly remain under the fountain in order to be filled” says DL Moody. We need to be filled every single day with the Holy Spirit in preparation for the final crisis. God is going to have a God is going to have a group of people that are going to make it through the time of trouble. But it is not an event that you get ready for in that moment. You get ready for it daily for “the inward man is renewed day by day.”- 2Co 4:16. ( Not immediately and definitely too late after the close of probation.. On being impressed with the hearing of God’s word  and recognizing our poverty in spirit and in need of a Saviour ( Matt 5:3 ), we must then “seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”, seeking daily for at least a hour in studying the word of God.)

 “To the consecrated worker there is wonderful consolation in the knowledge that even Christ during His life on earth sought His Father daily for fresh supplies of needed grace; and from this communion with God He went forth to strengthen and bless others….”.  {AA 56.1}

For the daily baptism of the Spirit every worker should offer his petition to God. …{AA 50.2}  (For the regeneration of the Holy Spirit and that renewal for Christ to live in our hearts by faith doesn’t happen in the moment but daily. Inviting Jesus in hrough the agency of the Holy Spirit God is able to work within us both to will and to do of His good pleasure.)

3.  Overview - Knowledge discovered in D27

D27 stands on its own and yet it serves as an extension to “To Live Past Covid-19” ( http://www.wakeupow.com/448239340” posted Jan 24, 2021) – the other main twin website.

Your participation and experience gained in D27 is the manifestation of God’s love who first loved us (IJn 4:8). He had said to Jeremiah  “Yea, I have loved thee with an everlasting love: therefore with lovingkindness have I drawn thee.”- Jer 31:3.

It is by the beginning of wisdom which comes from above (Ja 1:17) through your fear (love and respect) of God and the Holy Spirit directs you gain the knowledge of the greatest sign and wonder of the world from the prophesy to the fulfilment in the first advent of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour.

Consider another text “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding’ ” (Proverbs 9:10, NKJV). It entails two closely related concepts: “fear,” as in awe, as in marveling at the glory and power of God; and “knowledge,” as in learning truth about the character of God. Hence, wisdom, knowledge, and understanding are rooted in God Himself. God is the source of all existence, the One alone who created and sustains all existence (John 1:1–3; Col. 1:16, 17) Hence, all true knowledge and wisdom and understanding ultimately have their source in the Lord Himself.

It is of immense importance, in the light of the lessons of Christ, that every human being should study the Scriptures, that he may be convinced in whom his hopes of eternal life are centered. The Bible should ever have been made the great, grand book of study, which has come down to us from heaven, and is the word of life. Should that book which tells us what we must do in order to be saved, be set aside in a corner, and human productions be exalted as the great wisdom in education? The very knowledge children and youth need to obtain for usefulness in this life, and that they may carry with them in the future life, is found in the word of God. But this is not encouraged and presented before them as the most essential knowledge, and as that which will give the most correct information of the true God, and Jesus Christ whom He hath sent. There are gods many and doctrines many. There are maxims and commandments placed before our youth as the commandments of God. It is impossible for them to understand what is truth, what is the sacred, and what is the common, only as they understand the Scriptures, both Old and New Testaments.  {FE 384.1}

The word of God is to stand as the highest educating book in our world, and is to be treated with reverential awe. It is our guidebook; we shall receive from it the truth. We need to present the Bible as the great lesson book to place in the hands of our children and youth, that they may know Christ, whom to know aright is life eternal. It is the book to be studied by those of middle age, and those who are aged. The word contains promises, warnings, encouragement, and assurances of the love of God to all who accept Him as their Saviour. Then place the holy word in their hands. Encourage them to search the word, and they will in so doing find hidden treasures of inestimable value to them in this present life, and in receiving Christ as the bread of life they have the promise of eternal life. {FE 384.2} (The Bible should be made the foundation of education. In this work the light and strength and power of the truth will be magnified. Youth from the world, whose minds have not been depraved by habits of sensuality, will connect with these schools and will there be converted.) .

We are to be co-laborers with Christ just as Jesus invites us to “Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.”- Mat 11:29. Our part in this partnership that “is to work out your own salvation with fear and trembling” and “it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.”- Php 2:12-13.

The condensation of D27 is appended next:

1.  Our eternal destiny is being shaped based on the decision we make every moment in our lives. “The character as formed in this world determines one’s destiny for eternity”. A character formed after the divine likeness is the only treasure that people can take from this world to the next.) by living faith we lay hold wholly and entirely upon the merits of the blood of a crucified and risen Saviour..

2. A moment of prophetic rebuke by King Ahaz opens up to us the greatest sign in the Bible “Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel” This is the sign of Jesus Christ being born of the Holy Spirit through the virgin Mary. This was given to this apostate king. This sign of all signs points us to the Messiah. This sign is going to change the world forever. This sign is going to bring hope to all mankind. This sign given to the apostate king is going to bring redemption to all apostates till the end of time for as many as will receive and believe.

3. The message from the Book of Isaiah in Chap 7 must be connected with Luke Chap 1 in order to understand the reality of Christ and those who are like Christ, called Christians.

Christ was born of the Holy Ghost. He was born of the Holy Spirit from conception (on December 25 - six months after John the Baptist, His cousin - v 36  See ) He was born of God. He did not have any human father. He was born of the Holy Spirit to the virgin Mary. He had an earthly mother but He had a Divine Father

4. Believers of Christ are caledl Christians because we are to be like Christ through the new birth experience of the Holy Spirit. Notice this reference by Paul to birth that leads to Christ being born within the believer, the Christian. This is the working of the Holy Spirit.The conversion of the human soul is of no little consequence. It is the greatest miracle performed by divine power. Actual results are to be reached through a belief in Christ as a personal Saviour… God cannot work through us miraculously while we are unconverted. Man can accomplish nothing without God, and God has arranged His plans so far as to accomplish nothing in the restoration of the human race without the cooperation of the human with the divine. The part man is required to sustain is immeasurably small, yet in the plan of God it is just that part that is needed to make the work a success.-   {4MR 113.3}

5. Isaiah’s message to depressed people is: we have nothing to fear when we fear God Himself. (Nothing to Fear When We Fear God Himself - Isa. 8:11–15) True fear of God as holy means that you recognize Him as the ultimate power* in the universe. Such fear overcomes any other fear.

6. It is necessary to know God in order to be attracted to him. And the perception of his image as represented in Christ changes the sinner's views of evil. The shadow of Satan obscures the character of Jesus and of God; but if we by faith gain a knowledge of God, and hold steadfastly to Jesus, we shall be changed. ..The human heart that has learned to behold the character of God may become, under the influence of the Holy Spirit, like a sacred harp, sending forth divine melody.  {ST, August 24, 1891 par. 2}

7. We are living in the closing scenes of this earth's history. Let us persuade men and women everywhere to repent and flee from the wrath to come. Let us arouse them to immediate preparation, for we little know what is before us. This is the commission that Christ has given us to do.

We that fear the Lord are called to serve to reach out to the souls that have not heard and who make up the proud and the wise men of the world. “Not many wise after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called

8. There is worship, giving glory and fear of the beast in the proclamationof the first angel’s message(Rev 14:6-7 addressing the geopolitical setting in Rev 13:1-3 where the sea beast reign, a composite of four animals described in Dan 7, is rising up out of a populated area (Rev 17:15). This is Satan’s masterpiece, an image synthesising all pagan practices that have been developed since Babylon. .. This beast was mortally wounded “and his deadly wound was healed: all the world is wondered after the beast” (Rev 13:7) This is being fulfilled today. We are witnessing in Protestant America today is wandering and marveling after the beast power.There is another lamb like beast (Rev 13:11) rising from the land that colluded with the sea beast There will be an enforcement of worship in the end time..

Quoting from William Temple: “Worship is the submission of all our nature to God. It is the quickening of the conscience by His holiness. It is the nourishment of the mind with His truth, the purifying of the imagination with His beauty, the opening of the heart to His love , the surrender of the will to His purpose

9.
